STUDENT LIFE

It is a great privilege and joy to be a leader with Student Life at Legacy Church. I believe that training our youth to be Christ-like leaders is vitally important in building Christ’s legacy. Ultimately, my lifelong focus is to love (as described in 1 Corinthians 13) the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love others as myself (Mark 12:30-31). I care about our youth and what our youth care about. Their successes, struggles, joys, pains, strengths, weaknesses, comforts, insecurities, trusts, doubts, safety, protection, worries, faith, hope, love—their heart, soul, and mind greatly matter to me. Still my love for them will not come close to the love of Jesus Christ. So, I will strive to show them and teach them about Christ’s perfect love.

I grew up as a preacher’s kid in Virginia, spending my childhood in Chesapeake and moving with my family to Grundy, where my older brother and I went to school and my parents served as staff at Mountain Mission School. MMS serves as a home, church, and school to more than 200 kids in need from more than 60 countries worldwide.

I graduated from Kentucky Christian University, where I majored in Business Administration and minored in Biblical Studies. I met my awesome and beautiful wife, Erin, in the Music Department and serving on the Outreach teams at KCU, where we traveled to churches around the country every weekend and to different youth camps throughout the summer. Erin and I have been married since 2003 and have 3 energetic kids.

The past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to travel with two teams to Guatemala and enjoyed serving and loving the people there. Through my experience in Guatemala, I’ve learned that there are great needs in every community.  My desire is to engage and experience those needs in our neighborhoods, our city, and our world. Previously, I’ve enjoyed ministering to the children of our sending church, The Point, as the Kid’s Point Worship Leader since 2012. Currently, I also work full-time at an educational travel company, WorldStrides, as a Marketing Manager where I enjoy providing students all over the world experiences that immerse them in knowledge, culture, and inspiration.

I like basketball, football, baseball, outdoor activities, technology, DIY, tools, singing, music, movies, TV, YouTube, eBay, social media, cooking and eating, the beach, Disney, but really just love hanging out with my family and friends, getting to know new people, trying new things, and visiting new places.
