Matt Schwenk

I grew up in Bridgeport, WV and studied Pastoral Leadership at Liberty University. Last year, I worked as an intern for Legacy Church and the Lord led me to come back as a Church Planting Resident. Since seventh-grade, I have felt the call to go into vocational ministry and I have leaned toward working as a church planter in some form. My family has all been involved in ministry starting with my father, who pastored a non-denominational church in WV. I am currently studying my Master of Art in Religion at Liberty University. From 2015-2017, I served at Student Life Camp for the summer.

God has called me to shepherd/pastor His people through the attributes of growth, love, and understanding. I feel called to disciple, grow, lead, counsel, mentor, and inspire His people through vulnerability, ministry, reliability, and shepherding. Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:19-20 to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” I hope to follow His commandment through church planting and going into the world, wherever God calls me. I saw God working at Legacy Church in amazing ways and I am excited to see what He does in the coming years.
