Engaging Culture with the Gospel at Halloween

Hey Legacy Family,

On Sunday I referenced articles that explain the value of engaging one's community with the gospel during a holiday like Halloween. Here are 3 articles that provide varied viewpoints, and I encourage taking a few minutes to read each.

Halloween Dilemma: Should Christian Parents Allow Trick-or-Treating? 3 Options to Consider by Kathleen Patterson

My quick summary is to use this holiday to meet new neighbors and to build relationships with others. God may use those new friendships to introduce someone to the love of Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 9:22 Paul wrote, "I have become all things to all people, so that by all possible means I might save some."

However, if this holiday violates your conscience, then don't participate or feel pressured to do so. That's totally fine, and you'll save money on candy-induced cavities. In Romans 14:14 Paul wrote "I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards anything as unclean, then for that person it is unclean."

Remember, in Christ we are a unified church family and Christian love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
