serving locally.

PARTNER WHEN POSSIBLE.
PIONEER WHEN NECESSARY.

We have some amazing partnerships with several Christian organizations. We truly believe that the church is stronger together and we strive to identify and partner with others that are already doing a great work. The following programs are some of the ways in which we display the love of Christ in our community.

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

— Matthew 22:37-39

Grace boxes

In partnership with Grace (see below) Grace Boxes are a way that our church family shows love to those in our community who have reached out for help. We take this opportunity to build relationships and represent Christ to our neighbors. During the holiday season, we provide essential needs such as food and clothes on Thanksgiving as well as basic clothing, winter clothing and/or bedding for Christmas.

Pop Up Church

We embrace the Great Commission with pioneering opportunities, such as Pop Up Church which are unique worship gatherings for people to encounter God. Our prayer is that God uses these gatherings to rejuvenate and encourage the Church.

TUESDAY’S TABLE

Tuesday’s Table is an awesome opportunity to use your gifts and love for cooking to bless others in our community! Area churches take turns providing meals to the hungry at Stanardsville United Methodist Church. Volunteers are always welcome to help cook and/or serve meals.

Feeding Greene

Feeding Greene is a local non profit that exists to provide supplemental food assistance to families in need in our community. Within Feeding Greene there are many ways to serve including the backpack program which brings meals to kids in school, the client choice program which allows families to shop for their own food, and a home delivery program which delivers meals to those who can’t come in person.

Serve days

Starting in 2025, we will have various serve days throughout the year where we will compile a number of projects in our community and mobilize our church for one big day of serving. We may collaborate with other local churches or organizations for these events.

Group serve projects

One thing that is clear in Scripture is that missions is not isolated to the impoverished. We are called to take the gospel to the ends of the earth and that starts with our next door neighbor no matter what their state of life is. With that in mind, we strongly encourage all groups to tackle one serve project per semester. This can range from helping someone in need tackle a construction project to simply baking cookies and bringing them to neighbors.

Firewood ministry

For years, Legacy Church has participated in a firewood ministry which helps provide heat to families in need in our community. There are hundreds of families in our community whose primary heat source is a wood burning stove or chimney. We want to help meet this need for those who can’t afford to meet it themselves or who don’t have the physical capability to chop and season their own wood. Starting in 2025, Legacy Church will kick this ministry back up right here on our property.

community events

For years, we have partnered with Feeding Greene which you can read about above. This year, we will be working with Feeding Greene to have a stronger presence in a couple local communities. We will organize a couple block parties in these communities and seek to build relationships that will point towards Jesus.

Local Partners.

The Greene Alliance of Church and Community Efforts is a group of faith-based people doing needs-based ministry. The purpose of GRACE is to empower individuals and families to move toward independence and a more self-reliant life-style by offering a hand-up, and not just a hand-out.

Amicus Road Academy is a homeschool co-op that adheres to a Statement of Christian Faith. As Believers, it is our desire to know Christ and be conformed to His image through the power of the Holy Spirit. We teach and serve from a Biblical worldview, and families who participate are expected to honor and respect the tenets of our faith.
